Houston gets new
Board Certified Entomologist with a vision for identifying, eliminating,
and managing insects and pests living in the nooks and crannies of our
homes “without our permission!”
After years of study, Wm.
Miles Self recently graduated from Texas A & M with a Bachelors of
Science degree in Entomology. Anyone who studies insects is known as an
entomologist. A Board Certified Entomologist (BCE) must pass a number
of rigorous examinations to test their knowledge and ensure strict
adherence to a high Code of Ethics and professional behavior. Similar
to CPAs, and Insurance professionals, a BCE is required to maintain
annual educational requirements.
Self, studied under the
tutelage and mentorship of Roger Gold, Ph.D Professor, Entomology
Department of Texas A & M. “Miles is one of the nicest, honest, and most
dedicated students I’ve had the privilege of associating with. He not
only demonstrated tremendous fortitude in returning to school after so
many years but he quickly captured and demonstrates true Aggie spirit
and dedication” said Dr. Gold
Self, opened Pest King Termite
& Pest Control in 1991. “A Board Certified Entomologist offers a great
benefit to Houston residents with the ability to identify and determine
the type and extent of any ‘pesty home invasions’ provide needed
treatment, or recommend a strategy for controlling unwanted pests,” says
Self.
There are few Board Certified
Entomologists in the United States; and, Self, says: “It’s possible I
may be the only BCE in Houston, Texas, specializing in urban/residential
pest control.”
“As a newly Board Certified
Entomologist, I look forward to serving the Houston community with its
ever changing environmental and weather related pest management
challenges,” says Self.
