A Safety 1st Tip from Pest King

Termites-Will be swarming soon!

Should termites begin to swarm inside your home, do not under any circumstance use a fly or other over the counter spray to resolve the problem!

• Don’t panic!  A decision should be made within a couple of weeks of swarming.
  
  
• They will always fly towards a source of light.
  
  
• Termites do not bite.
  
  
• Cover your mouth and nose while inside your home so as not to inhale the bugs.
  
  
• Swarming occurs in the early-morning hours in spring.
  
  
• Look for the point they are entering your house. If possible plug the entrance point up with anything: heavy tape, bubble gum,  putty, or (you get the idea) something of the like.
  
  
• Use a solution of water and dishwashing detergent to spray on them.  This will “fowl” their wings and they will die from suffocation.  Also, it will not harm you or most of the surfaces in your home.  Mix 3-4 tblsp liquid soap per 16 ounces of water.
  
  
• Do not purchase from the first person that says they can solve the problem!
  
  
• Listen to several termite inspectors before deciding whom you trust  to do the work.
  
  
• The sales person who sells the job will probably not be the same person who performs the work.  Ask for confirmation in writing of particular points you want to insure are done in a certain way.
