Hello Everyone! Thanks for your interest in the www.PestKing.com newsletter.
Since we've just reached 70 degree temperatures here in Texas, we are also welcoming the start of the "Termite Swarm" season which will affect all of us before long. We'll attempt to share some information and knowledge which might just avoid "a problem" for you in the future.

Termite infestation can be avoided somewhat by eliminating moisture build-up in areas where structural wood exists. Add a vent to an improperly ventilated area, trench around your entire foundation right against the slab.
Treat all unpainted and pressure treated wood with TIMBOR (click link to view & purchase): http://www.killfireants.com/termites/termites.htm an environmentally friendly, low toxicity pesticide designed to penetrate and protect all types of wood.

Treat in the form of a soil barrier treatment by applying in a trench along your foundation with

This type of treatment will allow you the same peace of mind you would have if a professional would perform the work except for areas that would require drilling and pressure treatment.

TIPS FROM PEST KING: should termites begin to swarm inside your home:
* Termites do not bite.
* They always fly towards a slight source.
* Swarming occurs in the early morning hours in the spring.
* Look for the entry point, block with heavy tape or putty.
* Use 3-4 tbsp dishwashing soap to 16oz. water and spray the bugs. This will suffocate them.
* Call around for more than one opinion for the most effective solution.

DID YOU KNOW:
* To prevent ants (of all kinds) from getting inside the house, environmentally conscious professionals are using Capsaicin, from the seeds of hot chili peppers, and applying a small bead around the perimeter of the home!
* Remember "swimmer's ear" and our Mom would make a mixture of boric acid and water for relief? Apply the same treatment for roaches in the home to any void spaces, especially small cracks and crevices, in very light applications and you will have roaches-no-more!
* Scientific evidence has indicated that the air within homes and other buildings can be more polluted than the air outdoors even in the largest and most industrialized cities. House plants have been shown to reduce levels of some chemicals.
